The snow season has been off to a slow start compared to the last couple seasons. It looks like that’s about to end. If you have any projects you need to complete before winter, now is the time to do it!
Not much word on resort openings yet. However, this system should give a good base for resorts to start blowing snow, especially for higher elevations. We think that resorts such as Boreal and Mt Rose, with base elevations of over 7,000 feet, will be racing to open after the snow falls – since snow levels should initially hover around 7,000 feet as the storm moves in. They are expected drop as cooler air moves in with the snow.
According to the National Weather Service , here’s what to expect:
* Gusty winds, rain and snow
starting Friday with heavy snow possible Saturday and Sunday.
Travel could be difficult at times.
* How about western Nevada? Gusty winds Friday into Saturday with
some light rain possible. Best chance for rain is Saturday into
Sunday. Snow levels may fall below 5500 feet by the end of the
weekend, with accumulating snow possible.
* What should I do? Complete winterizing projects for your home
and vehicles this week. Clear gutters and street drains of
leaves. Prepare a winter kit if you plan to travel into the
Sierra; including tire chains, water and snacks.
