February’s first storm is coming late tonight!

What to expect:

Timing: The snow is expected to start late Wednesday night, then intensify through Thursday morning. It will taper off in strength, then ramp back up Thursday night through Friday.

Snowfall: The highest accumulations (up to 3 feet) are expected above 7,000 feet, with up to 1 foot between 6,500 and 7,000 feet. At lake level, a maximum of 6 inches is expected.

Travel Impacts: Thursday morning, Thursday night, and Friday will be the worst times to travel. If you’re coming from outside of the Tahoe Basin, keep an eye on the weather. Saturday morning may be the best time, as lifts should be open and roads will be safer, especially I-80.

Bottom Line: Powder weekend!
